Well done Ted from our Training Band for representing the band at the ‘Yorkshire Bands – The Next Generation‘ Event at St John’s University, York. He was one of the youngest players there and it was an amazing experience. ![]()

It was a brilliant, full day event, where key players from Black Dyke Band took sectional rehearsals throughout the morning, then they all got together for a final concert. The young players were able to quiz the tutors about the journey that led them to be playing for the Black Dyke Band. It was a challenging day but they worked really hard resulting in an excellent performance for parents and friends in the afternoon. A fantastic, inspiring experience for everyone concerned. The future of banding in Yorkshire is in safe hands. ![]()

Many thanks to the organisers from Yorkshire Regional Brass Band Championships and the Yorkshire Music Future Fund for supporting such an amazing day for the young bandspeople of Yorkshire.

A brilliant night for our return to the Bandroom for the first time this year. It coincided with the 90th birthday of our longest serving player, 2nd cornet player, John Taylor. ![]()

John has played in the band for almost 80 years! He's been loyal to White Star for almost 80 years. Never missing a rehearsal or engagement, John also plays and supports our community training band. ![]()

Both bands played Happy birthday this evening, unfortunately the main bands one didn't record!![]()

Noone has ever heard John moan about anything! Always cheerful and never complains sitting in the cold or heat, he just gets on with it. A true gentleman and Bandsman and we wish him a very happy birthday. ![]()
